Research and development in Defense and Aerospace in India is spearheaded by DRDO labs. With government's initiative in Make India program and indegenisation of defense products the funds allocated to these labs have dramatically increased in recent years. Restrictions imposed in sale of test and measurement equipment in the 1990s and early 21st century have be lifted and there is a strong desire globally to participate in Indian Defense production.
